My Never Ending Thoughts
Memory Lane
Posted at 5:38 PM, July 21, 2006
The school reopened in June, And we settled in our new desks and benches!

When We queued up in book depot, And got our new books and notes!
When We wanted two Sundays and no Mondays, Yet managed to line up daily for the morning prayers. We learnt writing with slates and pencils, and Progressed To fountain pens and ball pens and then Micro tips!
When We began drawing with crayons and evolved to Color pencils and finally sketch pens!
When we started calculating first with tables and then with Clarke's tables and advanced to Calculators and computers!
When we chased one another in the corridors in Intervals, and returned to the classrooms Drenched in sweat!
When we had lunch in classrooms, corridors, Playgrounds, under the trees and even in cycle sheds!
When all the colors in the world, Decorated the campus on the Second Saturdays! When a single P.T. period in the week's Time Table, Was awaited more eagerly than the monsoons!
When cricket was played with writing pads as bats, And Neckties and socks rolled into balls!
When few played "kabadi" and "Kho-Kho" in scorching sun, While others simply played "book cricket" in the Confines of classroom! Of fights but no conspiracies, Of Competitions but seldom jealousy!
When we used to watch Live Cricket telecast, In the opposite house in Intervals and Lunch breaks!
When few rushed at 3:45 to "Conquer" window seats in our School bus!
Gone are the days Of Sports Day, and the annual School Day , And the one-month long preparations for them.
Gone are the days Of the stressful Quarterly, Half Yearly and Annual Exams, And the most enjoyed holidays after them!
Gone are the days Of tenth and twelfth standards, when We Spent almost the whole year writing revision tests!
We learnt, We enjoyed, We played, We won, We lost, We laughed, We cried, We fought, We thought.
With so much fun in them, so many friends, So much experience, all this and more!
Gone are the days When we used to talk for hours with our friends! Now we don't have time to say a `Hi'!
Gone are the days When we played games on the road! Now we Code on the road with laptop!
Gone are the days When we saw stars Shining at Night! Now we see stars when our code doesn't Work!
Gone are the days When we sat to chat with Friends on grounds! Now we chat in chat rooms.....!
Gone are the days Where we studied just to pass! Now we study to save our job!
Gone are the days Where we had no money in our pockets and still fun filled on our hearts!! Now we have the atm as well as credit card but with an empty heart!!
Gone are the days Where we shouted on the road! Now we don't shout even at home
Gone are the days Where we got lectures from all! Now we give lectures to all... like the one I'm doing now....!! JJJJ
Gone are the days But not the memories, which will be Lingering in our hearts for ever and ever and Ever and ever and ever .....
Gone are the Days.... But still there are lot more Days to come in our Life!! NO MATTER HOW BUSY YOU ARE , DONT FORGET TO LIVE THE LIFE THAT STILL EXISTS.....
Mind In Your Language

Lets have a little knowledge in our own mother tongue that is Assamese.
For long I had been hearing from others in several discussions that Assamese and Bengali languages are almost similar and the first one might have got derived from the second one. And I also started believing like tat only. Like me many of you also have the idea that Assamese may be an Apvransha of Bengali Language.
But recently going through different journals I found that it is not true at all. Neither Assamese is an Apvransha of Bengali nor its have any sister relation with the other. They got the similiarity because they originated from the Sanskrit-the mother of all Indian Languages.
The Sanskrit had two simplified forms-Pali and prakrit. From Prakrit four new forms were derived i.e. Magadhi,Paisakhi,Daksini and Maharastri. Instead of terming the new forms as Apvransha, the term Simplified will be more accurate for this phenomenon of deriving a prominent language from an another language.
The Magadhi had again four simplifications and they are -Banga,barh,barendra and kamrupi. Bangali language spoken in East Bengal originated from Banga,West Bengal from Barh and South from Barendra. And Assamese language is the simplification of the kamrupi.Kamrupi origin languages cover from Koch Bihar, rongpur, jalpaiguri to Assam. Historically, ancient Assam(Pragjyotish) covered from koch bihar to present west Assam.
And modern form of Assamese language has been reached with the sublimation of Tai and Kamrupi.

Drinking And Driving

Why deadly?
Alcohol reduces the ability to drive in a proper and sane manner, which may result in disaster on roads.

Effects of alcohol
Ø Slows down the mental processes
Ø Incapacitates the brain to take rational decisions
Ø Gives a strong but false sense of confidence
Ø Renders the brain incapable of controlling and coordinating body movement
End Result
If any of the above happens while driving-accident is sure to follow & will fall prey to many legal complications.

Do you know?
Legal Complications?

Driving with an alcohol content of more than 30 mg per 100 ml of blood is a punishable offence and a court challan is issued to the offender.

No to No Reservation

In the villages from North East, 90% students have to go to the field or need to get involved in domestic works before starting their studies for the day. Yes, talented students rise from these rural areas also where electricity supply is just for 2-3 hours or no electricity at all after the dusk, forget about air conditioner and internet connection in the room. Studying under candle/lamp light Doctors/Engg. and different professionals emerge in these societies also. Now if these doc/enggs or students with their hard labor go out to compete with the professionals from so called upper class and metro cities don’t we think some relaxation should be given to these guys coming from these backward societies?
These Doctors agitating from AIIMS/IIM haven’t really seen how much difficulty a student from backward classes has to go through befor getting 70-80% in entrance exams. Unlike them these backward classes cannt afford extra coaching classes/library facilities or it is not available in their places to participate in the exams.
Finally, our forefathers had two sections who were suppressed and oppressed for decades i.e. women and today’s backward class. For that wrongdoing which continued for centuries, we have to suffer a bit with reservation for women and backward classes to restore their level and to bring these two sections to the mainstream, so that we can step forward as one India towards the age of super power by 2010 or later.
Hope, the doctors sitting on hunger strike will have a good sense and resume their duties soon, not further multiplying the pains and agonies of the patients queuing outside the hospitals with lots of sufferings which are getting increased relentlessly with each day.
